The Library/Media Center is located on the main floor of the school. It is staffed by our school teacher librarian, Mrs. Ward.
The library is open to the students, staff, and parents during the school day for materials, book sign-out and returns, and for independent and assisted research. Each class visits the library once a week for library skills and/or literature based class with Mrs. Ward. Kindergarten classes come in two times per week.
The library will host our annual book fairs, which are great fundraisers for our school library. There is a Book Fair in the fall each year.
There are approximately 5,000 titles in our library for student and teacher use. Besides books, our library houses audio-visual equipment, virtual reality headsets, OSMO system for iPad, Ozobots, a document camera, and various robots for programming.
Policies
Lost/Damaged Books: Lost and significantly damaged books must be paid for. You can send in cash or write a check payable to "Chariho Regional School District".
Book Selection:
Children self select "just right" books in all grades. Students are asked why the book is just right for them. It is my goal that children choose books that make them happy and life-long readers, not for reading instruction purposes.
