When the school was across from Woodmansee Oil, people thought boys played too rough so the playground was separated. There was a tall fence and boys were on one side and girls were on the other. Kids played on a Maypole. They went home for lunch and stayed at home for an hour. When they were done with lunch, they came back to school. Today the playground is not separated, so boys and girls can play together. We don't play with a Maypole, instead we have monkey bars, swings, slides, climbing equipment and a blacktop. Boys and girls can play basketball, kickball, or in the Gaga pit. Today we can’t go home for lunch and we can buy lunch or we can bring our lunch from home. I really like when my mom packs me pizzadillas (cheese and pepperoni cooked in a tortilla). This is the school board when Hope Valley Junior High played basketball. It is still in our gym today.
