Our students came down to the library to meet with a vendor from Gumdrop Books. They reviewed the new books and selected a pile for Mrs. Ward to order for next year in the library. In September, they will be the first student to check out the books . So exciting! Rooster Teams made posters with team names and strategies were drawn! So much fun.
What do you get when 2nd graders in Mrs. Mello's class use the Ozobots? Neighborhood maps! Students created a map and programmed the tiny robots to go from Hope Valley Elementary to their house. This project included direction words, using Google Maps to get the directions and lots of "debugging"- a term we learned in coding when there is a problem that needs to be fixed in a program. Students needed to label the roads and write the codes for the Ozobot to follow in order to be successful in getting to his/her home. Mrs. Mello and Mrs. Ward collaborated in this fun coding lesson and we think you will find the final products on the "Main Streets" of learning! Our 4th graders participated in a mini Rooster Games on Wednesday. Students have been reading as many of the 15 titles as possible to help their teammates collect points in various rounds of questions. Rounds include the first line of a book, matching an illustration with a book and a question round. Our 4th graders did a great job and next year will be able to participate in a day long Rooster Game Event at CMS! What a fabulous way to celebrate reading new books together! Check out these photos too!
