We have a lot of predators and humans are one of them. If a human gets close to a hawk the hawk will usually leave its own nest, which is not like an osprey. Sometimes the human will leave behind poisoned food and a hawk will eat it but that's not good for the hawk. Sometimes red-tailed Hawks even get hit by cars and they're hunted by great horned owls. The great horned owls will usually go after a red tail hawks babies and eggs. Crows also go after the eggs and babies, and that's that. Even though crows and great horned owls go after babies and eggs, humans are still our most feared predators. What My Sweet Sweet Chicks Look Like All chicks have downy feathers and are very cute. That’s mostly it. But like I said, chicks are cute! Tips For Nest Building We make nests out of sticks. We stick the sticks together with mud. We stick the sticks together in a circular shape. (family and order)
A red-tailed hawk’s family name is Accipitridae and the order is Accipitriformes.

Back then, bathrooms were outside. Today, bathrooms are inside and we have nice bathrooms. Back then bathrooms weren't that nice and if it was cold and snowy, you would still have to go outside to go to the bathroom. Hope Valley School loves theatre! By Hank |
This is a plaque hanging just outside our library. It was put in when the built the "new building" in 1954. The library, gym/cafeteria/stage and classrooms were added and the school became an elementary school. | This is a plaque that hangs in Mrs. Abbott's Kindergarten room. It is named for a kindergarten teacher, Annie Green. |
Hawky Talky is back to tell you about a hawk’s diet.! A hawk has a very big diet. My favorite food is rattlesnake but this school only has string cheese, which does not make sense because I’m their mascot! The hawk! A hawk will often eat anything in their territory. If a hawk has a baby, it will pick off shreds of meat from the prey and feed it to the baby hawk(s). A grown hawk will eat many things like black birds and small rodents such as voles, chipmunks, and other small mammals like cottontail rabbits, ducks, ground squirrels, gophors, shrews, moles and amphibians. Reptiles, birds, insects, mammals, and carrion are on the menu! | Carrion is the rotting body of a dead animal. Do you know the term “I’m dead meat”? With carrion, that’s true! |
Well to start I want to be a vet when I’m older and wait, I am older and I’m not supposed to be talking about this anyway. No fair! FINE!!!!!! First this guy named Justin Beber! No. Justin Hall! I don’t like history. Anyway Justin Halls’ history is this internet diary tour for the web. Also Dave Winer (another dude) scripted the news. Finally Evan Willams and Meg Hourihan made a company for blogs. Evan left but when he did, he became the head of Twitter.
Yay! Where done! Wait. No! No! No! I still half to do a blogs history! FINE!!!!!!
In 1999 only 23 people blogged, but on September 11, 2001 blogging came to life with over 100 million people using it. This was a new way of communicating at that time. A woman named Catherine Seipp said it was a “personal online diary.”

We hawks live in plenty of different habitats, but we have a few favorites. Oh my, where are my manners? I must have lost em’. Seriously, have you seen them? Hi, my name is Hawky Bob Accipitriformes but my blog name is Hawky Talky. Hawks like open areas with a high perch so that they can spot moving or dead food from above. Hawks will live in pine forests, normal leaf forests, forest edges, and open country such as fields, pastures, and swampy areas. Red-tailed hawks like being near one or many open areas. I like to hang out at the school playground. I can see all 140 people in this school. Or, at least I think there is 140 people in this school. I’m bad with math. I sometimes fly by a classroom window to goof off. I don’t pay attention!
Hawks have a distinctive look. Here are some tips to identify a red-tailed hawk. This is going to be fun! Red-tailed hawks have a rusty red tail, rounded wings and a hooked beak. We also have sharp talons. But that's not all! We have much more features that I would like to tell you. A red-tailed hawk has a wingspan of 4 feet skip this one( 1.2 meters ). That’s big!

Noah Robert Vandeveer is a really hyper 3rd grader. He also likes fake gore. He may have some strange traits for a 3rd grader, but he has a wild imagination and loves to have fun with his friends.
